September 2008

This year’s Performance Elective will introduce and broaden the student’s familiarity in the various types of performance, i.e. dance, musicals, theater, puppetry, mask work, and multi-media performance (video and sound recordings).  As well as surveying a variety of performance they will be introduced to the fundamentals of developing performance as well as cultivate an awareness in themselves of how they can listen to their natural inner-impulses to create honest expressions, and mold them into performance.

While developing skills and awareness the students will also be instructed on the logistics and basic of stage workings, i.e. stage directions, rehearsal process(es), and warm-up.

At the end of the year every student will be involved in a final performance that utilizes all of the elements they learned over the year, and will perform it in front of an invited audience of parents, peers, and possibly the public.
