August 2008

This year’s Composition Elective will focus on musical creativity and the means in which that creativity is captured.  Students will experience the many elements of music (e.g. pitch, rhythm, timbre, dynamics) while creating various compositions for instruments found both within and without the music classroom.  Each school quarter will culminate in a Final Music Project that will be presented through one of the following mediums:  a performance, a recording, or an engraving on manuscript paper.  Students who would like to take the Composition Elective for consecutive quarters will be allowed to continue work on previous compositions or start anew.
